How do I trim/prune my Chaeto!?

It has totally taken over my refugium!
And I was wondering if I should just take half of it and rip/pull it apart;
or get a pair of scissors and cut it in half?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Do the former, just rip/pull it apart and sell, trade, give away.

I've found the scissor treatment to be easier, but I've done it both ways

I usually just rip it apart because I can never find the scissors. It can grow from a tiny piece into a whole colony so to speak, so it isn't very crucial how you trim.
