can u buy 2 bangaii cardinals and theyll just pair like clowns?..

if not, how do u pair them?

Best way to pair them as per most folk's experiences; buy a group of captive bred juveniles (i.e. 5 or 6) and raise them up together. A dominant pair will form and harrass the rest...remove the pair (or the others). That's how I did it with my pair. Sadly, they are fixed-sex...no hermaphrodites here.

Watch your local papers, reef board, craigslist, whatever you have available and look for the tank breakdown & "leaving the hobby" posts. Eventually someone will be selling a pair of adults. Also let every lfs in your area know you are looking, people often trade in fish to the stores.
If you can get some adult fish place them together two at a time in a neutral tank, you will know pretty quickly if you have a compatible pair :smokin: Using this method you must be on standby to remove fish when necessary
Or do as mwp suggested, it takes time but it works.

And it also supports the folks who produce these fish commercially to take pressure off the threatened wild stocks ;)

Another idea, contact Inland Aquatics - they list pairs of bangaiis...not saying they have them or not at the moment, but they *may*.

With my pair I watched a group of 8 in a tank at my LFS. When I came back the 3rd day 1 male (I think) had seperated a female from the group and was chasing the others to a corner at the other end of the tank. I bought those 2.

Once they get a little larger, they're usually pretty easy to sex, or at least guess closely. I wanted a trio and picked out three from about a dozen and a half that looked promosing. I've now got a breeding pair and a third-wheel female who the male doesn't bother at all. I'm looking for another male shortly as well.
