how do you feed your Sea Star in a bare bottom tank?

there's no sand to feed off of do you guys actually put small pieces of muscles and shrimp just for your sea star?

Last I checked a sea star isn't a "reef fish" per say. Maybe chuck this question in the invertebrate forum?
