How do you frag zoos?

Hi there zoo people! I am a SW newb, but hopefully I will set up my 10 gallon reef tank soon. After looking at some zoa's online I have come to the conclusion that they are the greatest thing on earth!

My question is how do you frag them? I barely know what fragging is to begin with so if you could kinda word it so a newb would understand.

Thanks!

Just to frag a zoa you have to do all that work?

Can I just keep a large peice of LR away from other pieces of LR within the tank and let the zoa colony grow? Would I avoid fragging that way?

Excellent resource of information... I am quickly becoming facinated with Zoas and could use all the info as I can get.

I have a frag in my tank that is sorta just sitting on a rock. It gets knocked around and what not. Where do I get those frag plugs? And do I REALLY use regular super glue? Thats nuts no???

yep regular super glue. you can buy some at your LFS thats called like ico-gel? maybe i think but i know at my local fish store its like 11 dollars, and regular super glue gel is like 4-5 dollars or so a bottle, and its the same stuff.

Regular super glue. Go to the 1$ store and pickup some packs.
The reason I go for smaller packs is because sometimes it can get messy and you end up sealing the tip shut.

With a 10$ bottle of 'reef crazy glue', you might ruin the bottle, spill it or have it dry out by accident before you get your moneys worth.

I buy the small 1$ super glue and after i'm done with all my frags, I throw it out. No worries about it going bad and what not and if you mess up, its only 1$.

For zoo fragging a hammer and chissel work great or to get a tight area bone cutters will work as well. As for supergue I like the lockite stuff from homedepot. Makes using it next time nice and easy.

I use a bonecutter. It's always alot better to get part of the rock under them for good survival rate.
I got my bonecutter at Dr. Fosters. It really comes in handy for fragging corals. Before that I would grind the rock with a scissors or I used a scissor type toenail clipper but it's smaller than the bonecutter.
I also use the small superglue gel tube for the same reason as above.
