I have two frags in a high flow area and I have a little of what seems to look like brow algae on the tip of two frags. I don't have an algae problem in my tank. How should I proceed?
Dont mind to hijack..but how come the algea only grows when the coral is on high flow??..I lost a gorgeous A. sarmentosa due to that...and im P.O!!..lol
How can you tell if the tip is dead? I thought it had to turn white? Also this algae started off on the tip and started to spread downwards and is also brown in color. Does that mean the branch is dying?

The tips will grow back. No need to cut. I gently turkey baste first. Then I gently either pull off some with tweezers( if blowing around in current) or gently use toothbrush to scrape off. I've been able to recover my tips every single time. I also put the corals back low if possible to help slow the growth of the algae to let the tissue grow back.
