i got plenty of water flow so i know that isnt the problem.i got a mag 9.5 on a 40 breeder w/2 maxi jet 1200 in the tank also.i dont put no nutrients in the tank but ocean fresh artemia and cyclopsezze.let me now what to do.!.!thanks

acrojay,

Do you test your phosphates? Cyanobacteria love phosphates. If you don't already, you may want to check your water source for phosphates and use purified water like RO/DI instead of tap water. Growing other algae in your tank or in a refugium can help too. Chaetomorpha and Caulerpa are commonly used as 'fuge algaes to help remove nutrients.

HTH & Good luck,
Kevin

my phosphates are @0

my phosphates are @0

yes i do check phosphate and they at 0.and i have a 5 stage ro/di unit for just making water the dts is 0 also.so i know that is not the problem of my red slime.maybe its just a bloom.im going to get some queen conchs in there.

It is a bacterial algae...After increasing my water volume with sump and refugium mine has not come back...I added the chemi- clean to rid of it then added the water volume. In my frag tank when it was new had same problem..added same stuff now gone. I think now skimmer has caught up and it has not come back. Naturally hmmmm don't know you have to find the source. Good Luck!
