When doing full tank shots, my water shows every particle, and its more noticable in pics then person. I turn of pumps and the same result. what are some tips, or is it just post-processing? would you just use the blur tool to remove specs?

I think to remove specs is the healing brush tool. Try running carbon in your tank too if you don't. It really clears the water up.

do you run any kind of filters on your tank? a diatom filter helps alot..

What kind do you run? From time to time I use my old Whisper Diatomagic filter. Fyi, I've also been using diatomatious earth powder that I bought from Home Depot years ago in their pool section. Its the same filter powder as far as I can tell.

I'm just asking because this one I have will probably die within the next year.

Your tank is not reef ready right? If there was an overflow it would siphon alot of that stuff on top out, and into a filter of your choice. Another thing that helps is have a power head pointed toward the top some to keep it churned up. This will allow the particles on the top of the water to be taken in by your skimmer or hang on the back filter.

Yep, the answer for me was mechanical filtration. I also don't have a sump, so I use an AquaClear 70 filled with a couple layers of polyester batting from Wal-Mart, and a bag of carbon. I replace the batting weekly, and it's always filled with detritus and other "stuff."

I have a 100 micron filter sock on the return from the tank and leave it there 24/7. Keeps my water crystal clear. Just don't forget to change it out often.

Indeed... else you'll have a nutrient factory.

What would the green hair algae eat?

GHA would thrive off the nutrients coming from the gunk in the filter sock. That's why you have to change them out often. I've been guilty of leaving it in for two weeks at a time...but I don't have any algae to worry about :D

Thanks all. Yeah, I do run carbon in the return of my skimmer, however that was off when i took the pics. I just recently switched to RAW and noticed that my pictures come out a lot more clear.

thanks again,

Jeff
