I voted led/t5 I just made the switch from halides and t5 inside the canopy is 50 degrees cooler . I can't wait to see the savings. The corals look great hydra 52 HD for me

In all honesty a combo system is probably the best solution. Each lighting system has pros and cons that together they could over come. Having said that I do not feel like messing with it and will stay all LED.

Running 2 x Kessil a360we on a 55g for about a year now. Cannot complain. Love the shimmer.

Altho I agree a t5 combo would be better, but by how much I don't know. Everything grows pretty well now.

If you go to Atinorthamerican.com they give you 3 possible light combinations depending on the light effect you want

I run 3 x Hydra 26s and 4 T5s over a 150 gallon high (30" deep). I've found the t5/LED hybrid to have the best results!

I just measured the power consumption of my 3 MH 250 W Radiums powered by 3 Hamilton M80 magnetic ballasts. 848 watts. Tomorrow I am going to measure the KW hours over the 8 hrs. they are on. The 4 ATI 80 Watt t5's use 296 watts.

I could dump (sell) the 3 MH add 4 t5's and save 549 Watts.

Currently HQI 150w with T5's. Upgrading in the next few weeks & going with the Giesemann Infiniti with 250w HQI and 80w T5's. I'm old school. :)

T5 only question

T5 only question

For those with only t5, how far above water line (AWL) do you have your lights?
