how do you use kalk

i know what kalk is and what it is used for, but my question is, how do you dose it? Do you use kalkwasser for top off? do ou mix it with water from your tank and then slowly add it back in? What do you do? I've been wondering about this for quite some time and none of the Kalk containers they sell in the stores i can seem to find any directions on how to use it.

I add 2 tsp per gal of RO/DI water for my top off. I let it drip via a small lift pump at night.

You need to add slowly to your system.I add 2 gallons per 24 hours.This is how much I evaporate per day.If you add to quickly you could have a huge ph swing and throw your system out of wack.Check thid forum out for better advice.

KENT marine makes a dosing jug with an IV type tube. Find it at Marine Depot, Foster Smith. I make a saturated solution using RO/DI per the instructions on the Kalc. I then drip it in at a rate of 1 drop every 5 seconds or so for my system. I have an auto top off so I don't need the drip to replace evaporation. I go through about 5 gallons every 2 weeks. I add Mg once per month. Works for me.

I neglected to note the size of your tank before I posted. With a tank that small you need to be very careful dosing Kalkwasser. I think you would be better off using bottled calcium from KENT or others as it would be gentler on your system and easier to add small amounts.
