Just went through this with my 155 gallon with a 55 gallon sump, and I am glad I did. I had to fill it three times, then drain it three times with hose water before I found and fixed my leaks. Every time I fixed a leak, I seemed to create another one! I kicked myself when I think that I almost didn't leak test because I, too, couldn't imagine that after I PVC glued the joints they would dare have the audacity to leak! (evidently they were not as impressed with my plumbing skills as I am)
Yes, it took a long time, but I am SO glad I did it! I too, had a huge tank on wood floors! I did think ahead and had an extra pump set up with 30 feet of hose, so draining the tank (repeatedly) outside was fairly easy and quick. I just put one end of the hose in the tank, and the other end out the door, and plugged in the pump, and it emptied faster than it filled! It's a good thing, too, because, as I mentioned, I had to repeat the process three times.
