how established before adding dragonface pipefish?

My lfs has some dragonfaces and I don't see them often.

I want one but for the most part my pod population doesn't seem too large. Will they eat frozen foods?

How old is your tank? What size? Other livestock?

3 months, only threat to it would be a rainbow bubble tip, tank is a 120, has a lot of rock. Pod population is minimal though. I have a lot of tiny ones, but don't see any adults.

Tank size is great, but I would personally wait 6 months to a year to be sure your pod population is up to snuff. There are flagtail pipes that will readily take frozen (like Janns pipes), but DFs are less likely to. In other words, you might get lucky and get one that will eat mysis or ova, but you cannot count on it and even if they do, you can't rely on them eating enough of it to sustain them.

Also, be mindful that many fish like wrasses and others will take a toll on pods too. What other fish would be in the tank?
