How Far Can External Pump Be From Sump?

I have an external pump. It's about 5 feet from the sump. It's connected via Spa Flex PVC. The reason why it's 5 feet from the sump is because that is the distance the curving Spa Flex PVC takes to connect to it, without getting kinks or drastic bends in the line.

The pump will be sucking water through 5 feet of 1" line. Is a distance of 5 feet from the sump okay for a pump to be? Please let me know.

Thanks.

A difficult question to answer. Depends on how much "head" you add to your circulation through bends or upward requirements.

It's not about head pressure so much as it is friction lose in the line. A simple way to explain it is you could have the Atlantic ocean as your sump but if your only running I through straw your gonna get no flow pump or not.

But if you have the holland tunnel then you can get plenty of water.

Best way to tell is do it and see what happens. Upgrading the size of your line will increase the distance you can run with no issue.
