How frequently should i feed?

I am trying to figure out if i am feeding too much and too often?! First of, I have to anthias, a blenny, and a coral bandit shrimp. I currently feed twice a day, in the morning b/w 8-9 and then in the afternoon b/w 6-8. I feed about a dime to nickel size piece of mysis shrimp / or i will feed a few splashes of cyclopeeze. (i dont know a better way to measure how much cyclop goes in...) what should be the best routine for feeding these 4 specimens and how often? also....is there a better food i could be feeding? Thank you in advance:)

Mysis and cyclopeeze are great foods. I woould only feed once a day though. Just add enough for them to clean up in about 30 seconds. You could add a little more after that if you feel like they didn't get enough. It's a little harder to tell on the cyclopeeze though. I just put in a pinch for 6 fish.

As long as your nitrates and phosphates don't get high, you're not feeding too much. BTW, they will always act like they are starving, so don't let the lil buggers fool you. If you have the test kits, test in the AM if you feed at night. Keep a log so you can see how nitrates and phosphates fluctuate. You can base your feedings on those readings.

Different fish have different needs for feeding, and different tanks produce different amounts of live food, so there aren't any hard-and-fast rules. For Anthias, I'd buy an Eheim feeder and feed 2-3 times a day, most likely. That's what I do for my clowns and gramma, actually. I'd also suggest a more varied diet. Maybe throw in some frozen Formula 1.

I think smaller feedings multiple times a day for most fish is better than one larger feeding, both in terms of fish health and waste produced.

I personally alternate my feeding. I feed 2x a day on M, W, F, Sat. Then feed 1x a day on the remaining days.

Alot of people will suggest feeding at the same time each day. IMO I don't like to do that. Fish in the wild dont always eat at the same time each day. I mixed it up between 3 "time cycles". Late Morning, Afternoon, and Evening.

I would say you are currently feeding on the heavy size. If you are going to feed 2x a day I would take 1 cube of mysis, put it in a small container, add about 1 Tsp of tank water, add a little bit of garlic, a small (very small) pintch of cyclopeeze, and that should last you for about 4 feedings. You can just store it in the fridge with a lid on the container.

Once again this is just my 2 cents.. it works for me. =)
