Im thinking of changing my rio to a quiet one pump
the one rated at 220gph
my rio is noisy so I want to change it soon
how energy efficient are the quiet ones?
are they really quiet?
are they better than rios?
its for my 10g
is there better pumps out there that are cheap?

I think they are good except for the fact that they are not quiet. I think the only realy quiet pumps are the eheims, though you pay for it.

I just sold a QO 4000; it was a great pump, cept that anytime you would loose power, I would have to slap it around a bit to get it to start again! I found out after the fact that Quiet One pumps have a restart problem. If you never turn it off; it will be an awesome pump though.

i have to beat mine (QO6000) for a few minutes to get it to start again, AND THEIR NOT QUITE!!!!!

I have that 220gph version and it rattles uncontrollably. The impeller shaft is not braced at both ends, which is what causes the noise I think. Out of the box, the intake strainer is nothing more than a flat grille, and does nothing to prevent debris from entering the pump. It's difficult to prefilter. PoS IMO, it's been retired to the closet.
