hi was thinking of getting the current USA 1/15 horsepower chiller for small aquariums
its like $300
does anyone know if its a good chiller
itll be for my 10g
the temp gets to 82 deg
i would just get a fan and watch your evap- save 290 bucks. but i'm a poor recently married college grad. . . . ice probe would work too for half the price/
agree with lessthanlights. 82 isn't really that high, and as long as the temp's stable i wouldn't even worry about it. i definately wouldn't buy a $300 chiller...buy a couple of $1 3" computer fans. just my $.02...HTH.
im currently using the ice probe now and it kinda helps
without it my tank would get to 90 deg
it brings my temp down to 82minimum
if i get fans would that eliminate the use of the iceprobe?
also where would i mount the fans and aim them at what?
my room temperature gets up to 90+deg so i need some seriuos cooling power
oh...i thought you were saying that your tank gets up to 82...that changes things.
anyway you can bring down the ambient temp of the room? one, 90+ in your room sounds terribly uncomfortable. two, obviously your tank will tend towards the surrounding room temp.
if i get fans would that eliminate the use of the iceprobe?
is your tank open top or do you have a hood? if its open, i wouldn't bother with the fans. if you have a canopy, just drill out a couple of holes and mount them so they both blow into the hood.
I would get the 1/10 they are almost the same price. Since your peltier cooler is not cutting it fans probably won't help much. Current makes a decent chiller.
my tank is open top and it reaches 90+ deg
so i thnk i will get the chiller
is the 1/10 alot better than the 1/15 hp?
if the 1/15 will do the job id rather save the money
