I haven't used it in a while but I picked some up yesterday and bought it for my tangs. Do you guys recommend it and why?

I just buy the nori wrappers at the grocery store in the ethnic section. Real cheap and the tangs devour a strip in minutes.

Can you add garlic to existing sheets, just got my first tangs in the tank a week ago and I keep reading about people dosing or soaking food in garlic juice to help with the immune system. What garlic do people use, just a regular minced garlic at the grocery store?

I use Seaweed Select. My reasoning, good results, variety(red, green, brown) and well, my roommates parents own a petstore, so good availability. My Yellowfin Tang loves them all. The garlic is an added bonus, maybe, it's not enough or fresh enough to make any real difference. As Eric said, just a flavor enhancer.

Although this article is specifically about garlic and ichGarlic versus 'Marine Ich', it explains, quite well, why garlic does pretty much nothing in the doses typically used, and how if you did get enough garlic(allicin) into the bloodstream, it may cause tremendous damage to the tissues and liver of the fish.

So are there any benefits? Why use garlic at all? Garlic has been shown to be a great flavor enhancer for many fish. With this increased feeding response, the fish gets more nutrition to fight off disease and repair itself. I feed garlic laced foods to all new fish at my store. Tangs, angels and butterflies definitely acclimate better with garlic.
