How hardy is Rhizotrochus?

I've got this rhizo for about 3 weeks and it doesn't look good now. Almost no reponse to the food (I feed silver side or pe mysis). Look like it's a gonner. All other corals in my tank are doing great: scolys, acans, dendros, duncans, sps...

I read that rhizo is very hardy but not true for me. Has anyone same bad experience like me?

I can't see your pic but if it hasn't eaten in that long it's probably close to death. Are the tentacle "sticky" at all. Have you tried shutting off all flow and setting food on it? A buddy's came in doing poorly and not grabbing food at all so that's what he did, it's gotten much better after a few months but still doesn't look 100%. I would try several small mysis feedings that way, maybe soak in selcon too.

I can see your pic and assuming it's not ill (disease of some kind) it's very much still alove and can be brought back.

As GoingPostal stated, turn off all flow and set a few P.E. mysis right on it's tentacles (do this at night when the lights are off). It should devour them quite quickly. If it does not, there is something irritating it. Look closely for small crustaceans... I've found several unidentified "hitch-hiker" crabs on freshly imported Rhizotrochus that I know would irritate them. You could attempt dipping in a TMPCC type solution, but this should be your last resort seems how he's not faring well at the moment.

I've personally brought back Rhizotrochus in MUCH worse shape than yours. GL

Your not by chance near S.E. Michigan are you?

Thank you for the advises, GoingPostal and Stunreefer. I'll give it a dip with TMPCC tonight. I feed my lps every three days so i don't think it's because of starvation. It used to comsume a whole silver side.

Make sure to observe the coral very well first... see if you can see any little inverts (crabs, snails) near the "rim" of the coral, this is where I've always found them. It would not surprise me however if they also went inside the coral, as vermetid snails do in clams, in which case dipping would be necessary.

I always make dipping a stressed coral the absolutely last step as a very injured coral will sometimes die due to being moved and dipped.

Also, make sure nothing is close enough to sting the Rhizo.

Here is how it looks today. I have it dip with TMPCC last night and found no pest on it. I think it couldn't make it.

That's a shame. Sorry about that. i just picked one up On Thursday. So far so good He is eating small mysis and pieces of shrimp. I turn off the flow and use and target feed.
