aquatic systems are in a constant state of acidification because waste produced by organisms is more acidic that the water...so how is it that the oceans maintain ph, without the adition of a ph buffer?

is it added with run off? is it constantly bein dissolved from oceanic crust at a slow rate? is it made by a biological process? is it even known? i can't find any articles on it, and i have been searching for a while...

thanks for the replies!
