Recently started tracking more intently my tank parameters. I am having a hard time figuring out how to time my dosing and testing to maintain alkalinity 7.7-8.3 as you can see it swings from 7.3-8.3. I am also unsure exactly how much my tank is taking up Alk and Ca.
My best guess is it is around 0.5dKH a day and 5-7.5ppm Ca a day. I am dosing 5mL of reef complete every two days but decided I am going to dose 2.5mL every morning and test at night around 8pm.
With alkalinity, I feel I should dose about 5mL every night. And then I will test alkalinity nightly and adjust daily dosing as I see how the levels are. I think my issue is testing and dosing at various times throughout the day. If anyone has good tips on how to really get down dosing and testing in an accurate manner let me know! My guess is to test each parameter at the same time every day and start dosing. not to chase the number I want right away but dose a consistent amount daily and adjust the dosing as the levels get too high or too low.
