How is this possible???( pics)

I don't know how but I think I have a baby nerite snail. I haven't added anything new to this tank. So I am wondering how this little baby snail got in my tank. Is it possible that the only nerite snail in my little 24 gallon tank is both sexes? I thought these didn't reproduce in captivity. In my 120 gallon there is a huge population of baby mexican cerith snails all over my tank. lol but I am really proud of the little nerite snail.

It is so small..when I tried to put it back in the tank my fish thought it was food..I was like :eek2: don't eat it!!!..luckly the fish spat the baby snail back out..whew!

Ha I thought there were only one..looking in closer detail there are several of these little guys..wow free snails!

Sure it's not a collonista snail. These run rampant through my tank. I usually give a batch like this to the LFS every few months.

collonista? I googled it..maybe that is what the adult is too?..well you can't see its shell because its covered in coraline. The adult didn't look like the ones you have in your picture before the shell was covered in coraline. Its shell looked more like a margarita. this tank has been over 80F several times. That is why I thought it was a nerite, because people say margaritas can't survive in warm water.

Have you found any egg sacks around the tank lately? If this link works, it should have a picture of a nerite egg sack. Couldn't really find any information on the margarita snails.

Nope, but I keep seeing caribbean cerith snail egg trails but those don't survive like the mexican ceriths.

I still wonder.. how this could be possible when there is only one nerite in the tank?..maybe its not a nerite but its the only snail that looks like the babies. I have one adult nerite, one trochus snail and four caribbean cerith snails.
