How long before my clowns pass away?

I completely understand the reason for asking.

I tried getting a pic tonight, but the little fella was too busy dancing in front of me, but you can kind of see it in this pic. I apologize for the poor quality here.

On a brighter note they both ate 1 or 2 spirulina brine shrimp tonight. I'm hoping the white stringy poop was from not eating rather than some sort of parasite. Although one of them is far leas interested in food than the other.

I think they may be stressed about eachother as they were on opposite ends of the tank when I got home.

One of them passed away tonight. It was the one that was less interested in the food. The one that is still alive ate 5-6 brine tonight and was far more active in chasing the food. The one that died had a few white spots that looked like sand grains on of its side fins. The spots were larger than any ich I have ever seen before. It also had a large pale colored spot on one of its sides. I am really bummed out because this fish turned really really fast. I had high hopes after seeing it eat something yesterday. My fingers are crossed for my other little guy. I hope he doesn't get lonely and stressed now.

I am in the process of building a 20 long that will have a 10g sump with a skimmer. I really think a pair (or one now) of clowns need more space than the 10 I have them in.

Plus it is easier maintaining stability with larger volumes. Sorry for the loss.

I have a mated pair and they go nuts for live black worms, not the most nutritious but can help motivate eating. Good luck

Thank you. It's a bummer but unfortunately sometimes it's part of this hobby (or should I say lifestyle?)

The one that is left ate like a champ today. He was chasing the brine shrimp all over the place, but still had a hard time taking down the larger ones. He seemed like he wanted to eat the pellet food, but kept spitting it back out and taking it in and then spitting it back out. He finally gave up on that, and he wouldn't take the flake food at all. Any ideas on how long I should keep him on the brine before basically forcing him to eat something more nutricious? I don't want to cut him off until I know for sure that he is in the clear and can handle a couples days of not eating if he chooses to not take something better.

I can't offer anything helpful except to say that my baby clowns would do the same with pellets when I first brought them home. They would eat (and still eat) mysis, but only when chopped finely.

Good luck!
