How long can clowns live for?

I have a beautiful gold banded maroon clown. She has been with me for about 5 or 6 years. She was a decent size when I bought her all those years ago. I just recently read that they only live for 5-7 years. Whats the consensus? Is that true?

I just recently decided to try and pair her up with a male. I went to the LFS and bought a small male along with an anemone and introduced them both into the tank and hoped for the best. Everyone told me that it was a gamble. I'm so happy that I tried. They paired up immediately. The small male did the little clown fish shuffle and now they are inseparable. No fighting at all, it was love at first sight. LOL

I wanted to include a picture. The lights were off so they werent at there best.

I've got a Tomato I've had sense before i got married the first time and that was 12 yrs ago and i don't recall how old she was then, I'd had her a few yrs, so I'd guess she's at least 14 or 15 yrs old. my female Maroon is over 8.

ive heard they can live 20+ given reasonably clean water and a quality food.

why does every one have to post pics of beautiful maroons i think i want one. maroons and clarks have to be my favorite clowns.

Trying to remeber, I read somewhere that the average for most happy and healthy clowns is about 16 years.

That's good news. I was hoping to have her for a while longer. I have invested a significant amount of time and energy keeping her happy. The things we do for our pets.

Wow, gorgeous, gorgeous pair! Maroons are hands-down the prettiest clowns IMHO - who can resist those big round fins? They look like teddy bears... with teeth. Your female is beautiful, and looks very healthy; I hope she's with you for another 7-8 years at least

Wow, crazy! I just posted a similiar thread. My pair (also gold stripe maroons) is at least 30 years old and have been together at least 28 years. They were retired early this year from ORA and were one of their oldest breeding pairs. I'm looking to find out similiar info in the other thread so it'll be interesting to see what others post.
