How long for a Duncan to open?

I got a small, single head duncan frag at the local LFS. I know it has to get used to its environment but how long does it usually take for it to open up?

A day or two unless it is positioned somewhere it doesnt like or your water is awful. Best of luck. Great coral super hardy. Got my latest one 2 months ago is growing 6 new heads off of the 2 it started with already. I feed it often.

Almost immediately.
I just brought home my first two duncan frags today. After doing a drip acclimation, I placed them in my frag section of my sump. They were closed up when I transferred them and when I checked on them minutes later, they both were fully opened. Make sure you also acclimate them to your lighting.
Hopefully, yours will open soon.

I'd disagree. Though 1 day is common, I've had it take 3 or so days for them to fully open if the flow, light or tank parameters are significantly different from their previous home.

Don't sweat it too much. These will take a beating. It's one of my first recommendations for a starter coral. I've fragged dozens for friends.

I had a 7 head one 2 years ago in my 180 with 3-250w MH never open ever. 1.5 years went by and it never fully opened. I even placed it in the sand under a ledge and no luck. I finally put up a 37 gal with just PC and switched to T5 they immediately opened up. I chaulkednit up to lighting and low nutrients. What lights were they under, and what is your lightning like?

It was open when i woke up and it looks great. I think it's one of those whisker ones because the tentacles are not that long and they are white while the mouth is light green. It looks awesome either way.
