how long for a frogspawn split?

So I have a branching frogspawn, and the heads have just started to split again (one into I think three heads). The last time it did this, it took months for it to finish splitting.... Is that a normal length of time? I mean it I know it has to dissolve and reform the underlying skeleton of the head, but I thought maybe my alk or ca might be off, which would make it take a longer time or something.

Try not to pay attention to it too much haha makes it seem like it takes longer. I ignored my frogspawn for a month or two and when I looked again it had doubled the number of heads.
