I'm moving my 55G reef 70 miles tomorrow. I'd like to move some of the coral without water if possible. How long can Palys, LPS, and zoanthids live outside of water? I planned on bagging the LPS in water but if I don't have to that would be great. The LPS consists of 2 Galaxea, Lobo, Wellso, Hammer , Acan, Candy canes and Frogspawn. I also have zoas and Palys growing on the glass. Will they survive the trip out of water or should I take a razor and cut them off?

Also, should I be concerned about an ammonia spike after moving the live sand?

Any moving suggestions are appreciated.

You can put the corals in wet cloth. There is a thread but I can't find it now.
Some folks even say it is the best way to ship them.

I'm pretty sure that refers mostly to SPS, which are used to spend some time dry with low tide. I don't think those LPS and softies are shallow water corals. I could be wrong though.

If possible I would do every thing u can to keep the lps submerged. Lps need water to support their soft tissues....the weight of the tissue rubbing against the. Skeleton can damage the coral. ..also that water will rid the coral of any slime it expels in transit. ..ifu feel u have no other option be sure together the LPS fully retracted prior to transport
