not a club member (yet) but always hang here because everyone is mostly local and i always come to the frag swaps.....how long and how many posts before i can offer things for sale here?

Thanks!

pretty sure the same restrictions apply here as for the classifieds...You should join, i dont think you would regret it.

and what are the classifieds restrictions....i've looked everywhere, all i see is people complaining about it but no numbers lol

if i remember correctly its 50 posts and member of RC for 90 days...seems like there was something else but can't remember...

and posts in certain forums dont count, I think the lounge is one of them. I usually post in the beginner forums to help out the people just getting started. Its a good way to add some meaningful posts to your count and help others. Looks like you already got the 90 days covered since you joined in Feb. A few more posts and you should be able to view the classifieds.

Selling/trading is a privilege reserved for those who have accumulated at least 50 meaningful posts and have been a member longer than 90 days.

I'm guessing to prove you are a true member and enthusiast not just someone spamming a bunch of different sites with sale ads.

correct. most forums like this apply similar regulations. to prevent, or better yet, discourage ppl from joining JUST to sell their stuff.

All correct, as far as I know our 50/90 rule was created years ago by specific request from the membership at the time after a lot of people got burned on more than one occasion by low-lifes that would show up just to sell or rip people off. :)

The internet is a crazy place and there are a lot of folks out there that aren't the upstanding folk you potentially want to give money or personal details to. 50/90 rule certainly helps weed a big chunk of the untrustworthy folks out and those that just want to use the community to hawk their stuff. Doesn't filter all of them out unfortunately, but I does help keep a lot of them in check. Plus, as I often like to explain it, this is primarily an educational site, not a classifieds service. So again, 50/90 rule goes a long way in keeping the few individuals whose primary interest is to move their merchandise out and more of the folk we love having here which are those that are interested in meeting fellow reefkeepers and having interesting engaging discussions. :)

Just go and look at like 13 pictures and post "very cool" or "awesome corals" and you will be there in about 15 minutes. LOL

That tends to make your post count move into the opposite direction as intended ;)
