How long is Ro/Di water good?

I have had a batch of ro/di water with salt in a garbage can, plastic of course in my garage with a pump circulating it. It has been very cold in chicago and doubt anything bad could grow in there with freezing temps. How long can I store the water and use in my aquarium??
Also do water changes help reduce cyano outbreaks?
Thanks, Scott

Scott, I've found water changes help with cyano problems myself.

As for how long it will last... I can't give you an exact date, but with circulation, should be quite long. There's really no nutrients or anything in there that would feed the bacteria, after all, and the pump keeps it from getting stagnant; plus there is no light for algae to grow if you have a lid. On top of that, you're going to be adding salt to it.

I imagine you could keep the water all mixed up like that for a while. Are you doing water changes? Wouldn't you end up using it up over the course of a month or two? If you are making tons, you might try making smaller batches -- maybe enough for a months worth of water changes at a time...
