How long should I quarantine my clowns?

Planning on picking up some clowns for my tank this week and was curious how long I should keep them in the QT
I have a 20G QT set up and all ready to go for them. I have heard 4 weeks, but not sure. How long do I wait?

It is different from person to person. I am a supporter of 6-8 weeks. I do not want any kind of out break in my tank and i am willing to do anything to prevent it. I would suggest you read up on an ich and Brooklynella. Under stand the life cycle of these diseases and the treatments for both. Some fish are just carriers of diseases and will not show symptoms but once in your tank will infect the rest of your fish.

Good for you! You'll never be sorry you developed the habit of quarantining. I quarantine for a minimum of six weeks. In the event a fish develops a problem and has to be medicated, of course the waiting period is longer.

Depends on what you want to accomplish during QT.

Here is my protocol for all new fish in QT.

Observe for 1 week, make sure they're feeding and look ok.
Do tank transfer method for 14 days.
Rest for 1 week and observe.
PraziPro for 5 days
4 days rest
PraziPro for 5 days

So that makes 6 weeks for me.
