I just received my bta tuesday and tried to feed him today(thursday).He didn't eat and he shriveled up and hide and a stringy like substance is coming off him.I tried to feed him silverside.

IMO as soon as the bta will take food. I feed mine twice a week. Just keep trying, when it is ready the food will 'stick' and the nem will take it from there. GL!
personally i don't think btas should be left to hide in the darkness. Refusing to come out may be a sign of poor light acclimation or some other problem. If you can get it to come out and it will hold food, only start with stuff about the size of a pea.
Anemones are planktivores, try feeding it something smaller like some mysis shrimp nhext time or small pieces of silverside. But, I'd wait at least a week before feeding a new anemone.
