How Long To Wait B/4 Adding Clam?

Presuming ample lighting, are there any guidelines for how long to wait before adding a clam to a new tank? IOW, the "rule of thumb" for SPS is to wait at least 6 months to a year for the water to "age" and the algae blooms to subside. Are there any such time limitations for adding clams to a new tank?

they recommend the same. clams need a good stable environment without the fluctuations that come a long with a new tank.
