How long to wait?

I've never kept clams before, but they are one of the reasons I'm setting up a new tank. How long (after the cycle is completed) should a tank mature before adding a clam? I want to give all my animals an optimal environment, but I must confess some impatience when it comes to getting a nice t. maxima . Any advice will be appreciated.

Really do not know if there is any rule of thumb other than make sure that everything has stabilized such as pH, alk, ca and salinity.
