Recently I had an outbreak of Ick in my display tank. I treated it with Kick-Ick and some fish made it and some died. the ones that made it looks healthy and normal for over 2 months now. I just introduced a new big Koran Angel to the tank, and he keeps scratching himself againt the LR. I have a feeling that the water in my tank has parasites (may be Ick?). But for some reasons, the old fishes don't have this scratching symtom. This angel fish is biggest in the tank so he is not being stressed from abuse from other fish. He actually bosses other fish around.
I don't like to see my fish suffer from parasites ( I really hate these parasites), so I purchased a Aquanetic UV IL-30 and run it at the return pump.
My questions are:
1. Would this UV kills all the "free swimming parasites" in the tank?
2. How long does it take for the UV to kill all the parasites?
3. What is the best way to get rid of all parasites, if any?
If the UV could really kill all the parasites, I would think eventually there will be no more parasites to kill and the UV can be removed. If you're familiar with UV, please share with me how this thing works.
