how long with fishless tank for ich to be gone

Ich killed my first 2 fish on oct 14, how long does it take for ich to be out of my system before I can add another fish?

I have always been told 6-8 weeks..if it was me i would go the 8 just to be sure.

Minimum 6, depending on the conditions. I've read up a lot on ich lately, if you are going the fallow method and you really want to be sure you are ich free, there have been no studies that show ich living in a fallow tank more than 11 weeks, none that I've seen anyway and a couple showing that after 11 weeks they never found any ich.
