How Low can It Go???

I have a 75 gal. with two 250W MH. Does my crocea need to be at the top or will it be fine on the sandbed? I have it closer to the top right now but would prefer it to be on the sand bed if possible. I have read that they are the most light demanding so, I am not sure what to do. :(

You read right, they are the most light demanding species together with the maxima.

It all depends on the water level height, if it's shallow , you can put it on the sand (and place a flat rock under it) if your tank is high place it on the rock work.

It also depends how far are your metal halides from the water level.

I am going to guess you have the standard hood and tank for a 75g aquarium set up. Keeping a crocea on the ground is possible, but they are (like the maximas) rock boring clams. Keep them where you like, but do keep something under than like a rock. It also depends on what kelvin you have your halides at.

Thanks for the replies, the lights are about 10 inches from the surface of the water and they are Hamilton 14K bulbs. The clam is attached to a fairly small piece of rock that I can move around so I can move it easily yet keep it on rock.;)
