Any idea of how many gallons it is?  Congratulations on a great find!  I am jealous!  That is indeed a one of a kind tank and really needs to be a saltwater display again!  You could do a mixed softy/LPS reef in that tank easy.
				
			It's a WAY out there thought, but have you considered cutting the top off to make it shorter and then re-cap the top? It would make an incredible reef tank!<a href=showthread.php?s=&postid=6844903#post6844903 target=_blank>Originally posted</a> by bergzy
it is too tall for a reef set up...believe me...trying to externally maintain the bottom of the tank is impossible when a tank depth is 36".
