Any idea of how many gallons it is? Congratulations on a great find! I am jealous! That is indeed a one of a kind tank and really needs to be a saltwater display again! You could do a mixed softy/LPS reef in that tank easy.

the appearance is deceiving as it is smeared with gooey dried sand. it is actually in pretty good shape.

i am going to get a guy to come out and give it a total professional polish after i clean out the tank of remaining sand and gunk.

though you cant see it...the custom hood and front (to cover the front of the way overbuilt metal stand) is in okay shape. not a whole lot of water damage. it has a light wood color veneer and i will remove it and have a cherry veneer placed over it.

i was going to place this in the garage but i am thinking twice now about it and maybe place it in the house. the only thing is that my house has very few corners that would fit this beast.

I love it! I'd make it a reef and put the stuff in the corner. Very exciting and very cool.

Very nice tank, I would certainly set it up, did you get lights with it? Wondering what would fit it properly.

It's a WAY out there thought, but have you considered cutting the top off to make it shorter and then re-cap the top? It would make an incredible reef tank!

its only 36" I think with 400w bulbs you could do a reef tank.

Yeah, thats just about the coolist looking tank I've ever seen, I think I'm actually going to look into getting somthing just like it. I wonder how much it would cost? Anyway, a few 400 watt Halides and you should be set for a full blown reef!

man,

it is absolutely tempting to make it into a reef but i think i am psychologically scarred or something from breaking the thing down to haul it home.

it was a freaking nightmare to try and reach the bottom. reefmeister2 got so sick of it that he actually climbed INTO the tank to dish the sand out!!! man, i wish i had pictures of us breaking this sucker down!!! we did the handing down of coolwhip type buckets into a bigger bucket. my arms, chest and stomach got totally bruised and beat up from reaching into this freakin' thing.

perhaps when the battle scars heal up...i may consider making it into a reef. i will have to agree that it would be an awesome and i mean awesome tank but perhaps i need to watch oprah and consult with dr phil for a little 'inner healing'. NOT!!!!!

Just because its three feet deep doesnt mean you have to put all of your corals at the bottom, dont get crazy and cut off the top, just be wise when placing your corals. If you plan on a DSB, make it 6in, and now you have a 30in tank...
Definitely needs to be a reef tank though!
