How many calories do our fish need?

So after doing a bunch of reading on here, I started to feed my fish a lot more food more often. My fish have never looked better.

Now mind you I am watching to see that most of the food gets eaten, before feeding again a little while longer. I am not seeing a lot of waste. It is a mix of dry and frozen.

And I cannot believe the amount of Nori my tangs are eating. Almost a sheet a day sometimes more. 1 med tang and 2 small tangs. Also the other fish who are chowing down on this has really surprised me, especially the dwarf angels.

So if you compared what I was feeding in the past to now, I was really starving my fish.

So my question is, how many calories do fish need each day to be really health, and can we make them too fat? I looked at all of my different foods and I see nothing about calories, only % of certain type of protein etc.

So what are you thoughts?

About 1/3 sheet of nori, 1 cube krill and a pinch of flake or pellet. Now I am feeding 1 cube krill, 1 cube enriched brine, 2 or 3 pinches dry and a cubes worth of reef frenzy.

Depends hugely on the species your talking about, whether they are omnivore carnivore etc, what your feeding, how much flow there is in the tank etc so I doubt you'd get a figure.
Predators for instance eat a large amount infrequently but the high metabolism of an Anthia needs plenty of grub.

You normally see a % body weight figure as a guide but like you say depends on the type of food.
