I am getting my first 29 gallon salt water FOWLR. How many fish Could i put in that tank? I wanted 2 Clown Fish, Royal Gamma, and a goby, Also a Shrimp. Is that too much fish? My LFS guy told me 1 fish per 10 gallons, but i have seen smaller tanks that a 29 gallon with more then 3 fish in them.
(What would be the best goby that would clean the live sand the best)

Thanks guys

My 30gl is going to have a Clown Fairy Wrasse, 2 Clowns, 2-3 Firefish gobies, and a red scooter blenny with a few shrimps and lots of corals.

Considering you don't have Corals, you will be more than fine. Can i ask your Sump size? Also are you running a Protein Skimmer? If you don't have a sump, check into getting a HOB Protein skimmer. This will really help with the bioload. Otherwise lots of water changes.

I have been told and also have read 2-3 gal for every inch of fish. But must use a skimmer Keep in mind the more fish the more water changes.

Then again, alot of reefers say don't go by that rule. A fast moving energy burning fish will benefit differently to the bio-load of a aquarium. Some fish stay on the bottom and hardly ever move, like the goby, while others constanty swim eating and looking for food, like the gramma's you want. The clowns wont move much either unless it's feeding time. I think you would be fine as long as you have a skimmer.

You should be fine with that stock list, provided you add them slowly so that the tank can adjust to the bio load of each new fish. I would go with a watchman goby like the yellow watchman goby, and stay away from the sand sifters.

I dont know what sump is. What is a good HOB skimmer? why not get a sand sifting goby? i think the sand sifters are sooo cool and funny!

Umm, sounds like you need to read more. Do more research, you should know what a sump is. Read through the equipment forum, doing a search for hob skimmer. See what other shave said. Look at websites at diff ones avail in your price range then do a search for their ratings and reviews.
