hey there!

im upgrading from a 20g to a 50g soon. i currently have 2 black clowns which are still quite small and a six line wrasse.

generally speaking, how many fish could i add for a sps reef?

i definately want a goby and a pistol shrimp, and an algae eating fish.

i would prefer something not similar to a goby (like blennies) to cover other space in the tank and be more diverse. any recommendations? do small angelfish eat algae from the rocks?

thanks in advance, martin

Well I have a 75 gal reef and I have only 4 fish in it 2 fire fish, a red scooter blenny, and a pink and blue spot goby. I kinda like have few fish, I don't have to feed as much, just a portion of a frozen food cube. But you will hear you can keep X amount of fish, but with more fish, comes more feeding, nutrients etc. But I think that you would be good with what you want.

my stock: black clown, multicolor angel, mystery wrasse, yellow sailfin blenny, and 4 green chromis.

tank size 55g.

i feed the fish with an automotic eheim feeder, twice a day. i do not feed the corals, the fish do.

too easy.

Get a pistol shimp and goby. Keep the sixline in your 20G for the time being. He will be very aggressive toward new fish. Firefish and commonly available cardinalfish will spend their time propped out in the middle of the tank like British soldiers. The other cardinals (which look like fancy tetras) are shaoling fish, and the small ones (Apogon neotes) can be kept in groups in a tank that size. Pygmy angelfish (Centropyge spp) can also be kept fine in your tank. They will eat algae, though they won't keep the tank spotless. They spend their lives in the wild grazing off the rocks, much like a tang not on crack. A very good choice for a 50G.
