how many gal.will a bucket of rc make @ 1026

I use the 200 gallon box theres 4 bags per box each yield 14.875 lbs of salt mix and I mix in a 55 gallon barrel with 40 gallons of rodi and it comes to 1.026 everytime without fluxuation, I have also weighed the buckets out in 14.875 lbs incriments and that yeilds the same SG, but I forgot what the total gallons on the bucket came to it was around 120-35 per bucket Its been a while since i used one. The mixing instruction on the bucket are for a specific gravity of 1.021 i believe. HTH

I bought a box of instant ocean. The box says 200 gallons, 4 bags per box. In 65 gallons of RO/DI, one bag gets me to 1.027... I may have had some residual in my garbage can which caused the elevated salinity +.001
Something is VERY wrong...I would guess your hydrometer!
IMO there is absolutely, NO way that a 200g box of IO, will make 260g of 1.026-7 water! MAYBE...160g at 1.026

I just had my water salinity tested a few days ago at ARC I am at 1.026 and all parameters are sound. I just think I had some extra salt water in the bottom of the bin which upped my salinity.

Sorry, but even if you 'coated' the entire bin with salt...it couldn't make an extra 20g of 1.026 water!...it had to be closer to 45g of water with 1 bag of IO salt.

Why would they sell a product saying that it is 50 gallon mix bag, but thats at a sg that is not usable for keeping saltwater fish or corals? Reminds me of what they are doing with food packaging. Same size containers with less food inside. Very deceitful IMO

They claim that 1.021 is sufficient, and it is for keeping fish only but not ideal for corals IMO, I read into a lot of different articles about salt and their contents from different manufacturers and claims therein, and if my memory serves me correctly a few of them did this same thing. Its marketing at its finest!
160 gallon bucket of reef crystals!!!!! mixed to a SG of 1.021

I go through 100's of those 200 gallon boxes of salt a year. When making large batches of water up I use the same containers and start with the same amount of water and use the contents of the same number of bags of salt each time. You'd be amazed how varied the salt levels in the resulting water are from batch to batch, measured using a refractometer. +/- .005 or more sometimes.

I have personally not used RC salt in quite some time, but looking to streamline my water making. Need to be a bit more efficient. How much water do you make at one time? What size containers?

We are currently in the process of completely reworking our "RO Room" to include two 300 or 400 gallon tanks.

But we aren't there yet and we've been using three to five 100-150g Rubbermaid stock tanks to make water in, and when we need more I even have some 50g smaller cans I can bring out. I'm a bit limited on the space or we would have done things differently. I can't wait to get the big water tanks in, will be so much easier.

Depending on time and necessity I can currently make about 700-750 if needed, but most changes are only about 600 gallons.
