How Many Hector's Gobies in a 56g?

So I just added a Hector's Goby to my 56g tank (30w x 24t x 18d). I really like this fish and I can picture 2 or 3 of them in the tank. How many can I have before they start to compete with each other. Just so you know, I have PLENTY of algae.

Fish in tank:
Midas Blenny
Red Elongated Dottyback
Black Barred Convict Goby
and now, 1 Hector's Goby

The tank is getting close to 2 years mature, but the live rock is 10 years mature. Can't think of anything else to say about the tank.

Assuming their behavior would be the same as the closely related Rainfords, you will have to leave it at one. They will fight.

I was hoping that wasn't the answer. I keep looking for a fish that I can have a few of. It's sort of a weird thing with me. I like having 2 or 3 individual fish and then a group of 3-5 of one as well. Thought these guys may be the one.

With your tank size, having more than one of the same species is undesirable unless you have a male/female pair.

Just thought I would chime in also. I got two rainfords for my 80 gallon 4 ft reef and they fought until one died. So I would stick to one as well, and Snorvich, Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I took care of a 180 peninsula that had two.m they must have been a pair though because they were always within a foot of each other. I worked on that tank for over a year and they always stuck together. Have no idea how to sex rainfords.

Of course your tank size is radically different than the OP's 56 gallon tank. Most likely a male female pair.
