How many keep Rough periwinkle

I have in my salt water tank a snail species called Rough periwinkle. I have been told that it isn't possible too keep Rough periwinkle in my tank, since where I come from the ocean is cold, by my salt water tank is tropical. But they have been in my tank now for ~4 weeks without major issues, they are also breeding at the moment, but they breed live offspring's.

I also have in my tank one Common Mussel (Mytilus edulis), it did come into my tank as a small clam, but has grown in four weeks about 3 - 5 mm.

But what I want to know is how many keeps these species in there aquariums.

They are cold water, blue mussels will last for a while. If you have your tank on the colder side of tropical temps they might live as for the snails they need to come out of the water from time to time. I live in New Hampshire and tried the periwinkles with no luck. Mussels however lasted for quite sometime until my green crab (mantis food) went after them.

I removed the Rough periwinkle from my tank, as they where always on the top in it. But that wasn't any good for me. They need a special tank setup, something that allows them to go out of the water without having going to the top of the tank. There are still few Rough periwinkle in my tank, but they are all small.

The Common Mussel (Mytilus edulis) is in my tank and appears to be doing fine.

Like almost all intertidal organisms, the mussels are adapted to deal with excessive heat, but their response isn't intended to be a long term solution. They can do fine at reef temps for a while, but not indefinitely.
