how many posts do I need before I can trade

I seem to remember seeing a rule about a certain number of posts I must make before I can trade or sell on this forum. Is that true and if so, how many? Do questions count as posts or only answers? Thanks

Darn - you mean I can't just flash onto the scene, make the big bucks, and swim off into the sunset???

Actually, we have been trying to make some frags but so far, we just have some newbie stuff. (I'm not sure softies count as frags.) We've harvested some mushrooms from larger groups, but it is has been tricky getting them to adhere to new substrate. They look fine but they aren't sticking well. Anyway, we've had better luck with GSP, brown polyps, and kenya tree.

What do you guys think of the pizza slice method of mushroom propagation? My husband went all Frankenstein and parted out a mushroom, but sadly, none of the bits made it. A few pieces looked promising for a week or so, but then no luck. I think we got a little greedy and went for to many pieces. So for now, I've hidden all sharp objects :-)

Pizza slice is great, put them in Pyrex desert cup with rubble rock, cover with bridal veil and they will attach. Watch the GSP, spreads worse then weeds and will kill SPS it touches. Very hard to get rid of after you find out its a undesirable.

Just curious, but why would you pizza slice mushrooms for propogation? It isnt like they are high dollar corals or that they wont split naturally on their own:confused: Besides, you'd be lucky to get 2-3 bucks per shroom and thats if they ARENT cut. Why not just let them split on their own?? Just wondering...

Depending on the GSP type you have(especially Electric green), they make beautiful additions to any reef and if placed properly, you wont have troubles. If you decide after getting them that you dont want them anymore, simply cut the rock around the coral that they are on OR lift the matting and remove... you wont ever see them again. Its kinda like cutting Xenia. It can get out of control, but if you actually cut into the rock around it, no more issues. Simple enough

Wow 2-3 bucks per shroom. What fish store do you shop at? Oh maybe you mean at your organizations swaps???? Let us know.

Kenya trees are worse than GSP. I started with one small piece of kenya tree 3 years ago, now every few months I have to go through and remove them by hand. Last time, nearly 4 pounds (!!) ended up in the trash.

We were just wanting to stretch our aquarium bucks first of all. We are just spreading cool stuff around our personal tanks - with our kids' etc. But, at some point, I'd love to be able to swap one pretty shroom for another that we don't have. I'm not so much into the selling part as much as bartering.

I have not found mushrooms to be exceedingly cheap...but I'm a little cheap out of necessity :-)
