How many wp40?...

I was thinking of using 2 wp-40s in my 120...with be upgrading to 190 in a few months or should I get wp-60s.....what do you think?.....

60s are way too much flow -- 2 40's would be perfect one on wave and the other as straight flow for the 120 - opposite corners of the tank.. maybe when you upgrade one of each would work ok but each 60 is 8000 gallons an hour so even in the 190 you are nearly 100x flow an hour with your return -- its a lot of flow that can pull the tissue right off corals if you aren't careful about placement

I think you can dial down if you don't need max flow now and you can dial up once you need it in the future; how your rockscaping, what corals you keep and density of your corals all contribute a major role for your flow; I have 2 mp40wes in my 90 they are at max flow setting and I still can keep LPS on the bottom wo seeing issue with flow on them as I have rock structures that limit flow in tank, but if I only had thin layer of rocks on bottom of the tank and more of open water then I might have seen too much flow.

Mike I have 2 wp60s and a wp40, 60s on medium and the 40 on a seaswirl on high. Lots of flow, you could use the 60s on the 190. I dont have much sand though. You are welcome to come over to check it out.

I'm using 3 40s on my 210. It's plenty of flow. I have a 60 that I haven't even taken out of the box yet. The 40s are plenty for now.

Oops my bad! Always confused these 2.

Its a Chinese marketing trick! Make them look like Tunze but have a name where you just flip one of the letters over from being Ecotech. Quite sneaky.

What is the full controlability on these? Does lowering the speed do a great difference between full blast and the lowest setting?

I have one of the Jabeo WP40 in my 220 on the left side of my DT and I can cause water to spill out of my tank in wave mode. These are very powerful powerheads. I placed a 25 on the right side of my tank and another on the back center aimed towards front glass and I get plenty of water movement.

They are pretty controllable. I have 2 wp40 and 2 mp60's in my 120 and if I wanted my sand to be gone I just need to ramp up the speed of the powerheads.
