ok.. my qt tank got uronema i was going to do a ick-x but now thinking easier to just wipe it out with a bleach treatment and start over. tank is a QT 55 gallon.. so how much bleach.. i was thinking a couple of cups.. maybe a pint.

leave sponge filters in.. allow to circulate over night. empty.. file empty fill.
fill.. lots of dechlorinator.. dry..

then add salt water from maintank.. add sponge filters from main tank .. good to go..

thoughts..

I honestly don't think you need that much bleach. In my 20g QT to sterilize it after Ich and bacterial infection I used like 2 cap-fulls and it was plenty. I let it run for 2 days, but 1 day is fine. Bleach kills very fast.

bleached and now drying.. reminds me of the old days of bleaching the coral. dechlorinating and putting back all white.. only to have two days later.. not longer white.. but brown.. 20 years plus in the hobby things have changed..what let me get that under gravel out from the crawl

Oh man, a trip down memory lane. :spin3: I had a surplus dead coral skeletons always sun bleaching, so I could do a "coral change" every month or two.

Ha! I even remember the first time I dumped the bucket of bleach water onto dad's lawn. Oops :D
