how much flow???

still in the planning stages of a tank, but it will have the following INTERNAL dimensions:

30" wide
18" deep
26" high (usable...will prob be 26.5-27 actual)

that gives me about 60 gallons of actual water volume. so i'm trying to figure out the best flow rate for the overflow box. glass-holes.com has 2 different kits......

700gph or 1500gph

then, my question would be to go w/ a pump near the overflow's rating or one step up??

ie...with the 700gph box, use a 700gph pump or the 950gph one?? or the 1500gph box, use the 1200gph or 1800gph pump???

al this is part of the pre-planning as far as how many holes i need to get drilled, size, locataion, etc

The 700gph should work just fine.

In a 60gal tank your going to want roughly 5x the display volume passing thru the sump per hour after head loss, or in your case about 300 gph.

You going to want a pump that will deliver 300 gph after headloss is accounted for. There is a calculator on the home page of ReefCentral to help you figure out what your headloss will be in your specific situation.

Your going to need additional circulation in the display tank and your will be getting that from powerheads and or a closed loop circulation system.
