how much for your tank

for you that have had your 300-350gal glass tanks custum built around how much did it cost you?

for 300 or larger custom, i would say at least 3000 and upward. i was well over this for my 320gal, but i am in Canada , so fewer options i would guess. ( this is just for the tank itself, as you mentioned )

Shop around, look at prefab and compare to some of the more common build to suit companies.
I'd say you will be anywhere from $1500-$7000.
All depends on what you mean by 'custom'.
You can spend $10K in one household and have a full tank of items and in another household the $10 grand doesn't even put water in the tank. LOL

That marineland 300g isnt too pricey for a large tank, then you can spend $5k+ on an AGE.

If you want 300g, look seriously at the Marineland 300. It's a stock tank and should run you less than $2000. When I decided that I wanted a taller tank, the price went up to $10,000 for a 550g that has the same 36x72 footprint as the Marineland.
I like jarhead's answer though and I think that I'll use that on my wife too, especially since I need to call and order my BK skimmer tommorrow.

I'm in the process of getting a used 450... my wife keeps asking how much for equipment and stuff. I just keep telling dont worry it wont be too bad, but , when the dart for the OM and this big skimmer comes to the house ( and go figure.. its the day she gets home before me ) and she freaks... she knows its not cheap, but I never said she was dumb when it comes to reef tanks and just FO tanks ( we have 3 ) But look at around 4000 and that is a conservative guess. IMHA of course

My 300 gallon AGE with two very large external overflows, starphire 3-sides, was just under $3500. That does not include the steel stand, or crating/shipping.

Just wondering but you guys that throw out big numbers for total tank $ do you just go buy new or shop around for nice used equipment?

usually people that have the big tanks, can afford the new and not look for the used.

Guess that makes some sense, I just had to ask. I am not one to personally run out and buy new equipment if I can find quality used stuff.

not this one lol......its gonna be a slow process filling my new 300gal display but its always better to go slow in this hobby anyways....my 300gal acrylic tank cost me a grand but im building it myself......you can see my threrad in this forum.....i am building everything on the tank.....the tank the sump, skimmer, lights, reactors,etc........just buying materials and putting her together.....i got 3 kids man im always broke lol.......thank god i have the skills to do what i do........im sure you can find a 300gal cheap on craigslist i see them all the time for a grand or less........
