how much is too much current

Ok guys. Can you have too much current? I read a lot of places that if you take your tank and put it in the sea, the water turn over rate is enormous. well here is my problem. I have a 29 gal reef tank. 3 power heads with a total of 1200gph + 106 gph + 295 gph = 1601 gph
I will try to post pics so you can see what the tank looks like. the Koralia 4 is on the left glass panel the maxijet 400 is on the back panel and the 1200 is on the right panel and has one of those 360 rotating head.
I would like to stock up more soft corals and lps. currently, I have a yellow leather, and a duncan with 6-7heads on it. I had a very hard time finding a spot for the duncan. when it was fully open, the headwas just leaning severly towards the K4. the leather is great. he loves the direct hit from K4 + chopped flow from 1200. I had a decent size pulsing xenia but whatever I did, it was not happy in my tank. The guys at the LFS said it would be fine and was probably reproducing or whatever. I returnrd it, they said it was fine, it died 3 days later in their tank. Anyway. here are some pics

I turned off the actinics for different color.

the leather does not look great in thiese pics. I just had a massive algae bloom in tank about a month ago after switching my pc's to t-5 I finally broke down and pulled all the rocks out and scrubbed them.

Thats a lot of current, if everyting seems to like it go with it. I had almost the same current in a 55 gal. I guess it also depends on what corals you want to keep, but the fish probably like it.

I run about 7000gph through a 125 -- which is almost identical right at 55X flow. Fish and corals love it, have to hide the LPS a bit though.

Hide the lps is a good idea. My 29 does not have room to hide corals hehe... My fish are nuts for the current.the clowns ride the current from K4 all day long... what corals would do good in strong flow like that. for my lighting I am using a 30" sundial t-5 with 4x24w bulbs 2 daylights, 2 actinics
