How much light for a ricordia?

I have had the Florida ricordia you see on my avatar for about 3 weeks now. When I bought it, it was attached to a rock, and I set it on the sand, so it is about 12" from the 18W PC lighting in my 6 gallon nano. It seemed to be doing okay, but it slowly released itself. It managed to break free, which of course meant that the current swept it into a cave.

I was able to rescue it today after several days with no light. It is not currently attached to anything. I'm assuming that it detached because it didn't like where he was. So the question of the day is - what does he want? Where should I put him in the tank? How much light and how much flow?

Thanks for your input.

Put it as high as you can, 18watts isnt much. The floridas like alot of light. Ihave a bunch of them, and keep them 4-7 inches under my t5's. They dig it....Laterz

Do your T5's have individual parabolic reflectors Angels? Mine don't and someone told me they aren't any good without them...so he basicaly said I blew $200 on crap...thats a lot for a 14 year old without a job!!!

Yes it is. (I am 14 too) But, why did you pick T-5's? Your not paying the electric bill? lol ;)

And BTW, they are not BAD, so to say, without the reflector, but they are not as good. The reflector(s) aim the light down, so it is used to its full potential.

No..i dont have the funky reflectors, and i dont feel i need them. My mushroom growth rate is almost uncontrollable at times, im always finding shrooms in all the places i dont want them.

All my leather frags are now "colonies" (for lack of a better word) and need to be fragged occasionally to keep them looking the way i want them, My tank is less than a year old, maybe 7 months? (give or take).

My oldest ric is approximately 3 months old and they have all doubled in size, most have atleast 2 mouths and hopefully will split soon.

The yeller polyps i just braught home last month have taken off now too.

I prefer a minimalist setup, no skimmer, a couple powerheads, and i use the "dreaded" odysea t5 fixture, w/1 geissman bluepluss, 1 odysea daylight bulb, everything floureces nicely and is growing great. I may buy 1 more of the odysea fixtures just too see how it looks with 4 bulbs, but i dont really like a super bright tank so im undecided on that right now. Later
