How much light for chaeto?

How many hours of light does chaeto require for good growth? Is 12 hours enough? Does chaeto need to tumble? Why? Thanks!

Gary

my chaeto sits in trays lit by two 30 watt T8s (6500k) for 12 hours each day. there is very low waterflow and the algae still does fine. i think higher flow will reduce bad algae from growing on the chaeto.

I think mine is 14h a day in a AC 110 modded fuge. I just use a clamp-on desk lamp with a regular ol' 65W incandescent. Works well, fast growth.

i run 24/7 with 16watt floodlight compact fluorescent blubs 5100k. My chaeto is going crazy and i have to give/throw them away every month.
