i know that you all must have answered this one a lot, but i was wondering, how much liverock i am gonna need for my 55 gallon euphyllia reef?

it seems to me that euphyllia are a coral that would pretty well beat the crap out of anything but other euphyllia, and the hammer coral is the one that i "need", so i am gonna go with the rest of the genus for tankmates. my lfs has just about all of them in the frag tank, so i can get them locally. the concern is not necessarily to establish a biotope tank, just things that will coexist and "look pretty" with each other. in my minds eye, this already looks like a beautiful tank. just gotta get my projector working

careful, i used 150# in a 120 gal tank it was more than enuff, and some left over for fuge..........................room is also an issue, if you cant use it, its money wasted....................i wouldnt go even close to 2# a gal but thats me

I really don't think one can go by weight alone. The shape and how porus the actual rock is makes a difference. For instance, you could have a softball and football size rock that are close to the same weight. I would start with a lower amount and the add the finishing touches piece by piece.

Well I have roughly 60 lbs at least in my 55. Theres more thn enough room for more lol. I would have to say no more than 100 though should be sufficient. Try a 50# and 30# box first.

yeah i am gonna have to see how it looks with about fifty sixty pounds in there, and then take it from there. i would like to get "just enough", so that seems to be the only way to go. thanks
